Crazy Quilt Teapot
The Crazy Quilt Teapot was one of the first hand-stitched hollowware pieces I made for a teapot exhibition in Pittsburgh. It’s fabricated from scraps of paste-paper and Japanese chiyogami paper stitched to an archival base layer. It weighs just a few grams and measures 8″ x 8″ x 7″ high. Like many of my stitched vessels, the lid is as complicated as the vessel. This teapot top has 14 different pieces — 7 outer layers and 7 inner layers. Figuring out the order of construction is like solving a puzzle and is part of the challenge that I enjoy.
