Material Blessings, October 2023
For 57 years, my father carried a silver dollar in his trouser pocket that my mother gave him on their wedding day; it was his good luck charm. My Material Blessings series of fabricated pocket tokens pays homage to his coin as a talisman. Each coin is made from familiar and comforting materials that I have worked with over my thirty-plus years as an artist. These materials are the paintbox for inspiring creativity, providing income, and expressing my internal world.
