Pyramids in the Round Collar
$680.00
Pyramids in the Round was inspired by some paste papers that I had painted in sunrise and sunset colors. I wanted to make a piece that captured the golden glow that we see out our windows twice a day. Each pyramid is folded and closed with hand-stitching, and then tied to two others using embroidery floss.
This piece was one of the first meditative pieces I made and as I stitched and stared at the beautiful warm colors I had the sense of healing some of the brokenness in the world. I also felt connected to all the women who have stitched and mended and made the physical practice of sewing both a practical and a political act. That gave me the courage to move toward more political work, shown in the Portfolio section.
(Hand-painted paste paper, embroidery floss, gold thread; 12″ diameter x 1.5″)
