Tribute Brooch
Several years ago I was commissioned to make a brooch to honor and celebrate the retirement of the head of the school I attended as a child. Working in my signature floral-inspired style it was fun to design a piece with specific requirements. Each of the elements in this piece were meaningful to the recipient. The three gold leaves referred to each of the schools she oversaw: primary, middle and upper. There is one stone for each of her decades of service and the stone choice (green tourmaline) reflects the school’s longstanding color. The Florentine paper was chosen for her love of Italy and interest in decorative book arts.
